The Dating
& Restaurants Analogy
There are so many choices when it comes
to meeting men and women. It's like trying to decide what
type of restaurant to go to. Here is my analogy of dating
and restaurants.
$ Drive Thru
Bars
How many women have you heard say “You
can’t meet a decent men in a bar? Do men say the same
thing? Bars are a great place to go with friends. Whether
it’s girls or guys night out. As you get older you go
to bars to get a bite to eat and at the same time you feel
like you're being social. Men go to bars to watch sports and
most women go to check out the men. Sometimes you just
want a drink after a long day at the office.
Sporting Events
Come on ladies! Going to games or the races
is a blast. I for one wouldn’t turn down an invitation
for a football or hockey game. It's a great way to get into
the competitive spirit.
Speed Dating
Strange concept but some people like it.
This is where you talk to about ten men or women for 5-8 minutes
each and at the end someone will tell you who is interested
in getting to know you better. Do you believe in love at first
sight? I sure hope so!!!!
Blind Dates
My brother met his wife on a blind date.
It's a great way to meet people. Of course, there can be some
downfalls. Let’s just hope that the person fixing you
up has a clue of what you looking for. It’s a shot in
the dark but you just never know. This type of dating can
be very humorous. When it comes to dating you need a sense
of humor.

Internet Dating
Internet dating has opened up a whole new
world for many people. Maybe you are too busy to go out and
meet people? You can browse pictures and profiles of men and
women. Most of the time it does cost anywhere between $20-
$50 to respond to an ad. But, it is usually free to post your
profile on a site. But, there a couple things I will highlight.
First, don’t take it personally if someone doesn’t
respond after you have written and or sent a photo. Secondly,
people are not always who they appear to be. Otherwise, just
have fun with it!!
Personal Ads
You would think that writing a personal
ad would have faded away but it’s still going strong.
Most of the time you can place an ad for free.
Singles Events
You can usually look in the calendar section
of your local paper to see the happenings going on around
you. This is pretty big around all the major holidays. A lot
of clubs have singles night or ladies night.
$$$ Fine Dining
Dating Services
This type of service requires some thought
before you jump in the fork over a lot of money. Dating services
can range anywhere between $1,200 - $3,500. Shop around and
see which service could provide you the best options. Just
remember that people who work at dating services are SALES
people and want you to join to put money in their pockets.
Match Makers
This is someone who you are paying to help
find a soul mate for you. So be very clear as to what type
of people you want to meet. Match makers pretty much work
off a database to find the best match. This is an old fashion
way to find a soul mate but it has proven to work. Of course
the match maker can be way off target too. So always re-iterate
your expectations with the person you hire.
Singles Vacations
This could be a fun way to meet people
or make new friends don’t you think? Also, a lot of
internet dating sites such as Match.com have trips to go on.
Maybe this is the new Club Med? Trips range anyway from $1000
and up. Go with a bunch of single friend and you’ll
have fun either way.
